Scott Aughney finished in 3rd place (out of 6 candidates) last Tuesday night, while spending less than $1000 on his entire campaign. Compare this to the literally millions that the Democratic and Republican parties put into trying to make you believe that their candidates were the only ones running.
Scott has informed us that he is preparing a statement to be posted soon on this website. Also, the site will be making a transition to a brand new site with a slightly different purpose.
On Monday, October 25th, 2010, three third party candidates joined together to protest outside of Siena Heights University, where a debate was being held between candidates for congress in Michigan’s 7th district. Only the Republican and Democrat candidates were allowed to participate. Scott Aughney, who is on the ballot, joined with two other 3rd party candidates to protest this exclusionary tactic.
The Campaign to Elect Scott Aughney to Congress is releasing the following comments from Scott Aughney regarding the recent Conservative Forum for 7th district Congressional Candidates. The event held at the Christian Family Centre in Adrian, Michigan was sponsored by the Lenawee 9.12 tea party group.
“The forum’s exclusion of Conservative 7th district U.S. House Candidates except Republicans Tim Walberg, Brian Rooney, and Marvin Carlson, indicates an attempt by the sponsors to censor speech and political competition. The event was promoted as a conservative forum and flyers distributed for the forum reveal the 9.12 groups statement of purpose, including the ‘encouragement of others to participate in the political process’”.
July 8th - A Tea Party group in Adrian, Michigan held a debate between candidates for the 7th District Congressional seat, which Scott Aughney is running and has been nominated for. The group allowed participation by all 3 Republicans running for the Republican party’s nomination. However, they did not allow the US Taxpayers Party or their conservative nominee Scott Aughney to participate in the debate.

————— Norman Matoon Thomas Socialist candidate for Presidency, former Presbyterian minister
From a 1944 speech: “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of “liberalism,” they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” In addition, he said “I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform.”
Comments from Scott Aughney: This quote attributed to Norman Matoon Thomas was mentioned by Ronald Reagan in a 1961 radio address. Socialism is a system which takes root in existing economies and spreads systemically, not unlike a cancer. History shows, however, that it does not work to elevate people out of poverty, but works to lower vast numbers of people into an equivalent state under the premise of equality.
